2/11 Saving Your Clothing & Textiles
Learn how to identify, preserve, and interpret the clothing and textiles in your personal collection. We
will explore different ways to think about these items, and learn how to properly preserve, store, and
display them in your home. This is a quick-paced, introductory workshop that incorporates real-life
examples into the curriculum.
Attendees will:
- Be introduced to resources that help identify 19th and 20th century fashion and other textile
items and think of unique ways to interpret the items in your collection.
- Learn how to create the ideal environmental conditions for a variety of clothing and textile
items, including basic cleaning processes and tackling logistical issues.
- Learn how to best preserve, store, share, and display your textiles while keeping them safe and
accessible for future generations.
Each workshop comes with a specialized resource guide that is made available to all attendees.
