An autistic accountant is understandably horrified when his overbearing mother returns from a trip to her native Vietnam with a potential wife for him. No particular affection for the Romance genre is necessary to appreciate this charming…

I enjoyed this second installment on Khai and Esme's relationship that starts from scratch. I liked the contrast of the backgrounds of their characters. I liked both of them and understood their mental and emotional struggles. The…

I really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately, I just frankly did not. Right off the bat, the lead male character could not stop thinking about the lead female character's body in a sexual way, which might be fine if he didn't bring it…

In another author's hands Esme might have become a tragic character to be pitied, but I really enjoyed that Helen Hoang made her funny, spunky, ambitious, and multi-dimensional.

Cute and easy read. For a romance, it is decently written and an overall fun read.

This is a sweet "grumpy sunshine" romance with a neurodiverse lead. This is steamier than the "heart principle"! I wish that "little Esme" had been introduced to Khai sooner so we had time to see that relationship unfold.

Khai is so incredibly— Well, he’s got some interesting thoughts during the night... Esme was delightful and hilarious, and Khai was... Other than his missing shower activities, he’s pretty relatable. I can put myself in his shoes as he…

The Vietnamese representation in this novel warmed my heart. The characters in this book connect with Helen Hoang's other novel, The Kiss Quotient. Both VERY high on my top favorite romances. Khai has Aspergers and is very closed off with…

I've read several authors writing about life as someone who's Asian, and was expecting the same kind of good reading by the ratings. Unfortunately it wasn't at all like the others. Not my cup of tea.

Helen Hoang's romances are SO ADDICTING! I could not put this book down. Helen Hoang has a way of writing stories that are erotic and wholesome at the same time. There is so much love and tenderness amongst not just Esme and Khai, but…

Ugh. Not for me. I like an occasional romance but this was way to fluffy and unrealistic. I made it to the end with lots of eye rolls.

Just as in her previous book, "The Kiss Quotient", Hoang does a remarkable job of writing from the viewpoint of someone with Aspergers--this time from a male's perspective. The storyline is good, though heavy on the female empowerment…

This is a great book. I usually stay away from romances, but having both the author and the protagonist Khai talk about their Autism/Aspergers - as a fellow Aspie myself I was glad to see this. And the take of the Vietnamese immigrant to…

Cleaning hotel bathrooms isn't glamorous, but it's just a job for Mý, a single mother in Ho Chi Minh City. When an ex-pat hotel guest suddenly descends upon her and invites her to America to marry her son, Mý is naturally dubious and yet…

I absolutely love the characters Helen Hoang creates. I found myself laughing out loud at times while reading this book. I really enjoy reading about the famiily's culture and their family dynamic. I love that Kai's Autism was written…

I definitely enjoyed this read. It was exactly what you want in a rom com and it made me laugh out loud. It was a light enjoyable read that you just didn’t want to end. I enjoyed the added plot layers of Khai’s autism (and how he perceived…

I read this book through the Choice Read option at KCLS. I didn’t like this book as much as The Kiss Quotient. It could be because I’m not a fan of Esme. She seems unrealistic (yes I know I’m reading a fiction book) and has a split…

The chemistry between Khai and Esme was pretty different to the first book with Stella and Michael. It’s definitely frustrating seeing two characters that should be together not being together or watching them screw it up or delay…

A fun read. Well written with believable dialogue, likeable characters and a solid plot. Interesting insight into the Vietnamese immigrant experience. Looking forward to Khai's older brother's, Quan's, story.

I preferred the Kiss Quotient to this book, but I am also looking forward to Huang's 3rd installment putting Quan (Khai's older brother) in the spotlight with The Heart Principle. I appreciated the small cameo appearance of Michael in this…

Esme is an uneducated young woman living in the slums outside a large city in Việt Nam. Khai is Michael's autistic cousin who was briefly mentioned in Hoang's earlier book, *The Kiss Quotient.* Since Khai doesn't know how to date…

I really loved Esme and Khai, Helen Hoang took the typical trope of mail-order bride and flipped it on it’s head. Khai, with all his hidden vulnerabilities and the belief that he can’t love. And Esme, strong and courageous willing to leave…

It was good, but didn't quite move me as much as Kiss Quotient. Definitely a solid, easy read.. but fell just a little short overall. I still love her witty (and often raunchy) descriptions of people, situations, etc.
