Jerry is a very succesful stand-up comedian, mainly because of the people around him who offer an endless supply of great material. His best friend, George, is a balding, whiny kind of guy, who craves the kind of success Jerry has but is never willing to do what it takes to get it. Jerry's neighbor Kramer often barges into his apartment and imposes onto his life. Jerry's former girlfriend, Elaine, comes back into his life, and the four form a friendship together. They focus more on mundane conversations and situations that can be found during everyday life in New York.

Totally unrelatable to people of color, because there are non in this show what so ever.
I tried to watch this show when it was on and just could not stand watching a bunch of whiny, selfish, dysfunctional 30 somethings complain about the happenings or not of their pathetic lives(I had enough of that in my life). I have since caught a few episodes in reruns, unfortunately. This was never a funny show. The comedy club spot at the beginning was weak with jokes being delivered as if Jerry was practicing in front of a mirror, instead of speaking to a supposedly educated audience and the situations were improbable with everyone having no type of common sense at all. The show was poorly written and each episode was about nothing at all. I just don't understand the appeal.

Few people are familiar with the very beginnings of Seinfeld. I fell in love with it when it was a relatively unknown show. The first season only has four episodes but they are brilliant.

The first two hilarious seasons of Seinfeld and the development of its characters. If you are a fan of the series, you gotta start with this.

An incredibly brief 5-episode debut, the juggernaut series SEINFELD came from humble origins. With those five season one episodes (one of the smallest sitcom orders in television history) and then the inclusion of the second season, not only does the show establish the personalities of New York comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his schlubby best friend George Costanza, ex-girlfriend turned buddy-with-boobs Elaine Benes, and invasive kooky neighbour Kramer, but SEINFELD looked into the relateable elements of reality that affected all people, like the regrets in apartment hunting, the obligatory nature of old friendships, confusion whether an outing is romantic or platonic, and forgetting to ask the name of someone you just met. This was the show about nothing that catapulted its way to the top of the best of all-time television rankings. Considering how quickly they cultivated their awful but likeable quartet and steered them straight toward chaos just for the laughs, I'm not surprised of the success of this little show that could. It fast became one of my favourites, as it is for millions. I highly recommend the first and second seasons of SEINFELD.

What can you say about this amazing series which hasn't already been said? Seinfeld is the end product of an unlikely group of people being in the right place and at the right time to produce some of TV's most magical moments. Larry David and Gerry Seinfeld did not even consider themselves to be writers, but in spite of their misgivings they created one of the all-time funniest sitcoms in TV history. Just like the Beatles this type of chemistry only happens once in a blue moon. And there were many occasions where the Seinfeld Chronicles almost met an untimely demise. Fortunately it survived all the trials and tribulations and managed to survive much longer than even its creators imagined. Since I've watched all the episodes many times over already, I picked this up to watch the extras and it was well worth it especially if you want an inside look at how comic genius Larry David put together such an amazing show out of virtually "nothing". As a side note: if you are looking for more great comedy by Larry David please consider Curb Your Enthusiasm. You won't be disappointed. As for Seinfeld, I give it a well-deserved five stars.

My favourite Seinfeld episode is the one where Jerry & George are in Jerry's apartment, then Kramer bursts in & says something funny - that's a good one. George=Larry (watch Curb Your Enthusiasm). btw...the second button literally makes or breaks a shirt.

"Women know what men want. Men know what men want. What do we want? We want women! It's the only thing we know for sure. We want women! How do we get women? Oh, we don't know that. The next step after that, we have no idea. This is why you see men honking car horns, yelling from construction sites . . . These are the best ideas we've had so far."

"What evidence is there that cats are so smart, anyway? Huh? What do they do? Because they're clean? I am sorry. My Uncle Pete showers four times a day and he can't count to ten. So don't give me hygiene."
