Morse and Lewis are even better combination than Lewis and Clark, and rival Holmes and Watson. I finally think I got the Morse character down. He's very educated and appreciates literature, fine music, and class. But he's also a human being with frailties like everyone else, and he doesn't like it one bit. But Morse is a thinker too and dogs the clues to the very end. Lewis is good too and far more accepting of his own humanity. You can't go through life denying that even you will get sick, fail so many times you lose count, and yet see the battle is worth pursuing until the very end of life.
