True story and a wonderous Island and people!!
This beautifully shot documentary follows the American Samoa soccer team as they try to win their first game in seventeen years. The team's big-hearted determination had me laughing, crying, and cheering them on.
An interesting inside look at the American Samoa community using sport to bind together and overcome the stigma of being the worst soccer team in the world and gain a little pride for themselves and the coach that helps them get there. Their dedication and love for one another are quite inspirational.
Next Goal Wins is a 2014 British documentary.The film chronicles the national soccer team of American Samoa as they try to recover from the indignity of being known as one of the weakest soccer teams in the world. A very inspiring true story- where you will cheer for the underdog...excellent back story about the Samoan culture as well!
