Really great, compelling origin story. I wasn't a fan of the first Annabelle film, so I was thoroughly pleased with when this one turned out way better. Terrifying, creepy, and horrifying, this one made me wary of barns :)

When I say, "Scary" I truly mean it this film had me freaking out I was completely scared of it, it was one movie I would only watch during the day not at night time and if I watched it at night time I'd be sure to keep the lights on LOL.

I give this movie a 1 out of five. I thought nothing could be worse than the first Annabelle, the producers prove me wrong by coming out with a worse movie than the first one. Now these movies are getting more horrible as they go. I thought that since the first one was such a flop that they were going to not make another one and forget about it. First of all let's talk about the decisions that the characters made. Now I know that people in horror movies make horrible decisions, but if the girl knew she wasn't supposed to go in the room, why would she go into the room? I do love the interesting story of how she was created, but I still don't know how Annabelle was created, all I know is that Annabelle was stuck in a room with bible passages all over the walls. In the end, I'm still confused about what happened and why they would even bring orphan girls into the house with a locked room. They might as well be asking for the door to be opened. Although you do learn a few things about the doll and how she was created it was confusing in the end.

First the usual glut of disclaimers for this genre of film: OF COURSE the storyline is completely ludicrous when you give it more than a cursory thought; OF COURSE normal people do not behave this way when they discover they’re in a haunted house; and OF COURSE evil never dies, at least until the studio has milked every dollar they can from it. That being said, this prequel to the lucrative "Annabelle"-slash-"Conjuring" franchise could very well be the best of the lot. Stylishly filmed with wide pans and close tracking shots as the girls giggle up and down staircases or else stare horrified at a darkened doorway, director David F. Sandberg finds just the right balance of innocent frivolity and demonic foreboding. There are shadows aplenty in the this home, some real some psychological, and Sandberg is not above throwing in a pair of glowing eyes, scraping claws, or that eponymous doll—the ugliest piece of crinoline and porcelain you’re likely to see—which always seems to show up at just the wrong moment. But as effective as the first half of the film is, the second half spirals into haunted house clichés with flickering lights and a little black devil goading the adults into wielding the usual Catholic voodoo with the usual suboptimal results. Good special effects though, and the young actresses work well together. Unfortunately we’ve seen it all before from those very unsubtle sequel tie-ins to the promise of even more to come. Best appreciated if simply viewed as a series of fireside ghost stories…..ooh evil scarecrows and malevolent Barbies!

Annabelle: Creation is the nail-biting prequel that finally gives viewers the answers to how Annabelle, the demonic doll, came to haunt and terrify so many people and families. This movie was creepy in all the right ways with plenty of scary and freaky moments and cool connections to the other movies connected in the franchise.

I was rather surprised how good this movie was. The first Annabelle was slow--but this one has an interesting plot and multiple jump-scare elements, along with great makeup and effects.
