Thomas Nelson
Bestselling author of Girl, Wash Your Face and founder of TheChicSite.com Rachel Hollis urges women to stop apologizing for their desires, hopes, and dreams and instead to go after them with passion and confidence.

"Hollis&;s writing is beautifully blunt, and she humbly thanks her fans for her success. Her actionable ideas and captivating voice will encourage women to believe in themselves." - Publisher's Weekly (starred review)

&;I believe we can change the world. But first, we&;ve got to stop living in fear of being judged for who we are.&;

Rachel Hollis has seen it too often: women not living into their full potential. They feel a tugging on their hearts for something more, but they&;re afraid of embarrassment, of falling short of perfection, of not being enough.

In Girl, Stop Apologizing, #1 New York Times bestselling author and founder of a multimillion-dollar media company, Rachel Hollis sounds a wake-up call. She knows that many women have been taught to define themselves in light of other people&;whether as wife, mother, daughter, or employee&;instead of learning how to own who they are and what they want. With a challenge to women everywhere to stop talking themselves out of their dreams, Hollis identifies the excuses to let go of, the behaviors to adopt, and the skills to acquire on the path to growth, confidence, and believing in yourself.

Book News
Hollis, an author, business podcaster, and motivational speaker, shows women how to focus on themselves and not others and pursue personal and professional goals by letting go of excuses, adopting good habits and behaviors, and acquiring the necessary skills for growth. She explains how to let go of excuses like not being a goal-oriented person, lacking time, fear of failure, and fear of what other people think; how to learn behaviors like asking for help, not asking permission, embracing ambition, not allowing people to talk them out of their goals, and learning to say no; and how to use skills like planning, confidence, persistence, effectiveness, positivity, and leadership. This novel was straight to the point, and easy to digest. Hollis writes in a really relatable style, in a way that makes you feel that you are just talking to one of your life long girlfriends. If you have goals but not goal direction, this book will help give you tangible, doable methods to practice in achieving what really motivates you.

This book kept popping up on all the “best of” lists, so I decided to give it a try. I could only get through a few chapters. Too many buzz words, personal anecdotes, and cliches. Not very thought provoking or inspirational.

If you caught yourself wondering about the many things you want to achieve in your life, but then it happened so many times that you started questioning if you'll ever be capable of accomplishing any of them, then this book is perfect for you! And if you're a mom that has been dedicated everything to your family, forgetting to take good care of you, like me, then is even more worth the read.

Rachel Hollis follows up her successful 2018 self-help book, Girl, Wash Your Face, with this buzzy release.

This book had some great points and some points I definitely disagreed with. Sometimes, I feel like her target audience is the middle-aged, middle-class white woman. This book is not for someone struggling pay check to pay check or trying to figure out how they will feed their family tomorrow. This book is for the woman who feels stuck in her daily routine and feels like she has put herself on the back burner in life.

Wondering why she bothered to write this book. I tried to like it since it's so popular, but after listening to the audio book for about 20 minutes, I could not stand another moment. Filled with buzz words and non-content. Don't bother!

This book was far less offensive than Girl, Wash Your Face. It was still offensive at times but at least she tamed it down. She is very motivating and encouraging and I can really appreciate that part of this book. My qualms with this book revolve around how much she conflicted herself because she would quote a famous saying as her mantra and then go against it. Overall, if you can look past her fat shaming hate speech, this book might encourage you to try something new or to not give up on that thing you are trying at. But for someone who is so big in the public eyes right now, I think she could do well to stop spreading hate.

Some nice takeaways aimed at helping women live the life they dream for themselves (and not anyone else’s dream for them). Easy to read. It is the thinking about how to apply the info to suit oneself that took time.

Rachel Hollis' mission of giving people (mainly women) the tools to change their lives is extraordinary. Her out of the box thinking is very helpful to my "color in the lines" thinking. Yet, her writing style drives me nuts. I was only able to read one chapter at a time early in the book. How many times does she fill the pages with non essential comments about how she is writing on deadline, or with a personal story that is only slightly related to the chapter topic? It feels like she is just writing for word count although her material deserves much more than that.

I want to give the subject matter a 5 and the delivery method a 1, so the book gets a 3. Rachel, I love you and your work and I'm being honest.
