Annabelle the movie, I give this movie a 1 out of 5. I thought this was going to be a really good movie but it was just a cheesy horror movie. The acting was mediocre and if the acting was OK then I would have given it a zero. I dislike this movie because you don't even see the doll move, and you only see it move when the demon is near. So it's not even the doll that is haunting the family, it's the demon just playing with a toy. Don't get me wrong the doll itself is creepy, and it did freak me out because I have one in my room. It is crazy to think that this movie is based on a true story. This movie is very cheesy and I find it very reliant on its jumpscares. I feel if the movie producers had more time and money they could have made it better. An example would be making the doll actually move and not just sit on a shelf and just let the demon move it. I wish they would actually make it more like the true story. There were many differences between the story and the movie. I do not like this movie one bit from the beginning to the end. If you want to watch this movie I would suggest you watch another movie before this. @Icecream of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Annabelle was kind of disappointing. I had high hopes for this movie because I loved The Conjuring and Annabelle the doll itself, but it was definitely overrated. There is nothing exciting or super intriguing about this movie. Also this movie was not like the other Conjuring movies, because it was not very entertaining. The story line of the movie is more of what you learn in The Conjuring, and it can be predicted very easily. As a horror movie fan this movie is not scary. Some jump scares are scary but otherwise there was nothing else that scary in this movie. Although it was pretty boring, I still recommend you watch it if you are a fan of The Conjuring series and want to learn more about the doll. 3/5. @booksinaflash of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board I was disappointed with Annabelle. I had high hopes for the film, but it was a major let down. It’s a prequel and spin-off to The Conjuring films, and is based on the Ed and Lorraine Warren story of the possessed doll named Annabelle. The doll causes a disturbance to a young family and wants one of their souls. The family tries to find a way to stop that from happening. The film was way too predictable. The ending could have been guessed halfway through the film. The jumpscares were not scary, but rather comical. Overall, the film was not scary at all. It was disappointing because this was the film that came after The Conjuring. The Conjuring was a great piece of work, and Annabelle was the follow up. It could never top the first film and it didn’t. Although, I do recommend this film to anyone that doesn’t like horror films but just wants to watch one anyways. It’s not a terrible horror film, but it’s not one of the best. @reviewsfromthe9 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library For the most part, Annabelle was a pretty spot on horror film. It captured the classic fear of spooky dolls along with horrors throughout the ages. However, unless you're frightened easily don't expect too much from this film. Although many of the scenes were well executed, they were way over played and done too many times before. The narrative of ancient items haunting people of the present is a story line that has grown old. But, if you're just looking for a film that will make you hide beneath a blanket but still get some sleep at night, this is the movie for you. 3.5/5 stars @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
