First born son to depression era New York City working class. Poorly educated, largely unchurched and socially a non-starter. Tried to medicate with, or escape into, books, movies, etc. Look at myself as a creature and find that looking at others the same way helps.

Been watching Sadhguru videos. Wind him up, he gives his talk. Thought it a bit curious that he spoke of raising his daughter but in general doesn't mention the wife. Then I saw one where he explained what a great thing she accomplished by walking out of her life. At least one Indian paper recorded the father in laws pursuit of legal action against him for murder, which never went far.
Diet. Once saw a debate between three authorities one of which maintained that it is all calories is bunk. Fresh fruits and vegetables provides nutrition and fiber; you can satisfy yourself very easily while winning back your health. Has worked for me, allowing me to ease up on exercise. A big breakfast, then taper off. Might not be suitable for those whose weight must more closely resemble sumo wrestlers.
Consciousness. You've got your genes and your nurturing. You're floating around in culture often wanting to be free. Emphasis on consciousness puts a little distance between oneself and the world. It seems consciousness was a big part of the Adam and Eve story. Lots of folk around who think they know how to deal with this.
