This was a very interesting collection of short mystery stories from long-ago women writers. The book celebrates the many women writers who started writing crime fiction long before it exploded on the scene in the 1920's with Agatha Christie. Some of the writers I had heard of, others I had not. The stories are laid out chronologically, from the earliest to the most recent. While I enjoyed the book and really enjoyed the little bios of each writer, I found the quality of the stories varied greatly. Some of the stories were very good, but others were a bit of a snooze. Still an interesting collection overall.
