Found the beginning of the book engaging and interesting, but the downward spiral of deceit in spite of the many second chances provided were not inspiring. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the book. The last 100 pages of the book dragged on and…

I enjoyed reading most of this book. It was a little too long for me. There were alot of high points that kept me reading and interested however some writing were dragged on for too long

Long, long book. I stayed with it, but not sure if I would again.

I started reading this book and didn't get far. It wasn't keeping my interest.

Long about page 720-something, I nearly stopped reading and put it aside. I was beginning to feel addicted—not to any of the multitude of opiates or activities described in Tartt’s The Goldfinch but to the book itself, the story, which by…

Despite its length, The Goldfinch is a quick read. It's quite a journey. Every time the story shows signs of growing stagnant, it zooms off in another direction. The bulk of the book is plot-driven, and this was the only factor that…

Author Donna Tartt serves up one of the most interesting anti heroes in recent literature in the form of Theo Decker.

Rich character development, Boris and Hobie landing up with the same acceptance and understanding how bad can bring about goodness. So what we name / judge now may not be what in fact through time arrives. loved the writing *

I had trouble with the scenes during and after the bombing. I didn't feel like I could trust Theo's account of what happened, he's young and things were so jumbled I didn't really understand what was happening. I was confused by what…

David Pittu is an outstanding audiobook reader. Some of the writing annoyed me - she has the main character talk in "lists" quite a bit throughout the whole book, but I wasn't annoyed enough to stop listening. 32 discs but finished well…

Well written and interesting but last 1/3 was a long haul for me

This was the most depressing book that seems to never improve.

Dense. Words. Lots of them! In interesting orders! I stayed off the Internet in the time it took to read this book. (6 weeks haha kidding) This is one I'll be reading again for sure. Totally absorbing.

Very long, but very worth it. Felt like I aged years with the main character in the time I took to read it. The length felt justified, as the characters all needed to be developed, but sometimes the writing felt more rough around the edges…

Really well written. It took me quite a while to get through the book. It was very detailed and descriptive which helped to paint a picture of each character. I would recommend this book.

Horrible and overrated. Started out promising but by half way through you are so tired of the characters you honestly don't care what happens to them.

Christmas, so busy had to renew and I'm so glad I did. This is the second novel of hers I have read and loved them both.

The initial conceit and the story line are fresh and original. Some of the characters are really interesting and fleshed out satisfactorily. Wanted to love it but was frustrated by the length (a good editor would have winnowed it down…

I finished reading this book at the beginning of 2015 and it is definitely one of the best books I have ever read. I could not put it down and the detailed character development was a delight. The interactions between Theo and Boris are…

I listened to this while jogging; an hour or so at a time. The story is slow, deliberate, detailed and interesting. It lent itself well to these hour or so long intervals. I enjoyed most of it immensely. The story of losing one's focus or…

The book was more gritty than I expected - I thought it would be a polite saga of a book, and instead I was confronted with a self-absorbed, drugged up teenager, who persisted in making bad decisions. I didn't really like the main…

A killer book. In that it killed my interest after 100 pages. 1st 100 great. Then stagnation.

Started off well, lost interest about 1/2 way through. Skimmed the end to get it done but didn't care about the characters or the story by that point.
